Yes. The controller must be connected to a smart switch to allow remote control.
Switchable film is opaque in its OFF state. It switches to a transparent look in its ON state. The material has been tested to last over two million cycles of switching. Its longevity depends upon how often the materials is switched.
Switchable film has an inner-layer of PDLC (Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystals). You are always looking at the crystals when you view through the window film. In its opaque state the crystals are in various angles making it difficult to see through the material. When electricity is added, the crystals line up which allows you to see through the film between the crystals. The slight haze (2-3% VLT) are the ends of crystals themselves.
Yes. In its opaque state the material can capture a projection onto the glass surface. Storefront marketing and innovative displays have used the film for marketing campaigns.
This is the same film sandwiched between two glass sheets that make switchable glass. This retrofit alternative was created for glass already in a space. Unlike the switchable glass product, switchable film allows for replacement of faulty material. The switchable glass is difficult to replace, expensive, and glass glaziers are unwilling to work on a small problematic job scope.
